GROS ISLET, Saint Lucia (July 24, 2026) — The Caribbean Energy Transition Reporting Initiative (CETRI) has awarded reporting grants to eleven journalists from five Caribbean countries, supporting a new wave of in-depth reporting on renewable energy, climate resilience and the region's evolving energy transition.
The second cohort brings together journalists from Antigua and Barbuda, Dominica, Grenada, Saint Lucia and Trinidad and Tobago, who will explore how Caribbean communities are navigating the opportunities and challenges of the clean energy transition. Their reporting spans geothermal development, electric vehicles, disaster resilience, food security, household solar adoption and the complex realities facing fossil fuel-producing economies.
The reporting grants form part of CETRI's commitment to strengthening Caribbean journalism through evidence-based reporting on one of the region's most important development issues.
Since launching in 2025, CETRI has provided specialised training, connected journalists with regional and international experts and supported reporting that makes complex energy issues more accessible and relevant to Caribbean audiences.

Collectively, the stories examine the human dimensions of the Caribbean's energy transition, asking not only how countries are adopting cleaner energy technologies, but who benefits, who is left behind and what a just and resilient transition means for island communities.

The reporting grants are one component of CETRI's broader mission to strengthen regional journalism on clean energy and climate issues through training, mentorship and cross-border collaboration.
As these stories are published over the coming months, they will contribute to a growing body of Caribbean reporting that places science, policy and community voices at the centre of conversations about sustainable development.
